"I'll wait to see what God says... "

So I'm still reading Habakkuk and if you remember the last blog entry you'll know at least two things... 1. We call him Haba for short and 2. Haba is one heck of a moaner!

His blood pressure is pumping, his heart is racing, his face is pink and he's got that massive vein bulging from his forehead... he spends two thirds of Chapter 1 complaining to God about the people around him. But we get to Chapter two there's an odd moment of composure for our man Haba. It says:

"What's God going to say to my questions? I'm braced for the worst. I'll climb to the lookout tower and scan the horizon. I'll wait to see what God says, how he'll answer my complaint."

Despite being in what is commonly known as a pickle, Haba realises that you can't cry out to God and then not give him the chance to reply. So Haba positions himself in a place where he knows he can hear from God.

How often do we ask God for help, or complain to him about something, or wonder why things are going a bit pear shaped? It's easy to do, and I believe God appreciates us taking the time to share our troubles with him but whatever you do - don't go from complaint to complaint. If you're seriously asking God for some help then follow Haba's example:

1. Get everything off your chest

2. Position yourself so God can answer. For Haba it was a lookout tower, out of the way of all the people.

Where's your lookout tower or 'hearing from God position'?
